The thread began with one question under a post about the Be Inspired Brave tee: does it work if you have no plan at all? Nobody had a plan. That turned out to be the point, and it is how a motivational shirt found its first five outings.
5 Moments a Motivational Shirt Showed Up in Our Comments
1. The Monday errand run
Someone asked whether the tee works with no event, no photo and no reason to dress up. We said that is the best test there is. Pharmacy, dry cleaner, the grocery line at 9 a.m. A shirt that only fits a party is a costume. Wear it with jeans and leave the rest alone. Our post on how to style a graphic tee has the size rule for a relaxed fit.
2. The nervous-meeting day
Put it on under a blazer. The words sit against your chest where only you know they are. A lot of people like a reminder that nobody else has to read. The rib collar is soft enough that you forget it, which helps when your shoulders are already near your ears. Brave does not mean calm, and our piece on who a Be Brave tee is really for says the same thing at more length.
3. The group walk
Picture three people in a thread who each name a different color, then agree on the same Saturday walk and the same print. Different colors, same words. Nobody matched and everybody did. The tee is made to order in your size and color, so no one in the group has to settle for the shade that was left on a shelf.
4. The gift swap
Before choosing for a friend, a person asks the thread. What size? Does she wear loose or fitted? Will he actually put it on? We think that is the right move. A gift shirt lives or dies on fit, so ask someone who knows the person, then pick. The thread tends to answer with questions of its own, and the answers usually settle it.
5. The quiet evening
The last moment has no audience. A porch step, a mug, dusk, a plain day that needed a small nudge. The tee is what you reach for when you want the day to end a little braver than it started. The cotton is midweight and preshrunk, so it feels the same on the fifth wash as it did on the first.

What the five have in common
None of them needed an occasion. Each began with someone asking first, which is how most of us choose anything. Motivational t shirts earn their place when they show up on a Tuesday, mid-stride, while you are busy laughing at something a friend said.
If you are still working out what kind of message suits your closet, our look at a text tee and an animal art tee is a fair place to wander.

We will keep asking questions under our posts and keep telling you what the answers turned into. If you like choosing out loud, follow along and watch for the next thread.
